All educational institutions have a need to assess students and reflect on the assessments in their progress reports. But how much is this process necessary? Are the traditional forms of assessments the only form of assessments?
Currently, there is a fixed template for assessing all skills and all knowledge. But its effectiveness is still a lingering question. Just as humans prefer well-tailored clothes that fit them well, and satisfy their needs, Students tend to prefer the same with their assessments.
As educators, it is our moral duty to be the tailors of the assessments that students would love to take.
As educators, we can consider ourselves successful, if students do not fear exams; but enjoy the process of assessments.
Let us depart with a thought — have we lost the intention and honour with which education came into practice, for merely the deliverables (scores, or marks)?
More coming on different types of assessments and their effectiveness.
